Biography
Syed Rizwan Ali Zaidi, popularly known as Rizwan Zaidi, is a Pakistani Shia noha khwan (elegy reciter), naat khwan and manqabat reciter based in Karachi. Born in Karachi on 22 December 1977, a date that coincided with the 10th of Muharram, he began reciting devotional poetry in childhood and launched his recording career with the album 'Ya Ali Har Zamanay Mein' in 2000.
He serves as the lead reciter (Sahib-e-Bayaz Nohakhwan) of the Anjuman-e-Azadaran-e-Makhdoma-e-Konain in Karachi. Over more than two decades he has personally recorded over 600 nohay, naats and manqabats, and he runs One Ten Production, a devotional-media production house based in Karachi.
Rizwan Zaidi is widely regarded for his distinctive recitation style and has performed azadari programmes across many countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia, Uganda, India, Tanzania, Oman, Iran, Iraq and Syria. His sons, Sajjad Zaidi and Mesum Zaidi, also recite alongside him.
