Biography
Khawaja Ali Kazim was a young Pakistani Shia reciter (noha khwan and manqabat khwan) from Skardu in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Despite his youth, he became internationally recognised for his melodious voice and his recitations of naat, manqabat and noha, many performed in the Balti language of Baltistan.
He frequently performed at religious gatherings across Pakistan and among Balti diaspora communities abroad, and was regarded as one of the most popular young voices of the region. His recitations were widely shared on his official YouTube, Facebook and Instagram channels.
On 15 February 2025, at the age of sixteen, he was killed in a head-on car collision near Sann Town on the Indus Highway in Sindh. His elder brother, fellow reciter Nadeem Khawaja, and reciter Jan Ali Shah Kazmi died in the same accident. Thousands attended his funeral in Skardu, and his community mourned the loss of the young reciters as 'gems of the region.'
